Shared living is an opportunity for a person seeking residential services to choose to live with a person, couple or family trained to provide needed support. Thoroughly vetted prior to contracting with Duet, Shared Living Providers (SLP) are required to complete all regulated training as required by all Duet direct support professionals. Duet provides continuous training, connection to resources and guidance for SLPs.
Matching the right SLP with the person wanting this residential service is a key to the success of Duet’s SLP program. Considerations in determining a strong and successful match include personalities, hobbies, interests, location, pets, and family make-up. Multiple get togethers are scheduled with the person interested in services and the potential SLP to ensure compatibility, engagement and communication are comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. Together the SLP and the person moving in share life’s experiences while forming a long-term bond.
